ARTIST IN THE SPOTLIGHT
From September 28 to November 23, 2025 the work of Marieke Thiescheffer and guest artist Gert Jan Majoor will be featured. They are our ‘Artists in the spotlight’. The festive opening will take place on Sunday September 28 at 3.30 pm at the Kunstsuper Delft, with Marieke and Gert Jan present to discuss their work and answer questions.
We kindly invite you to visit the Kunstsuper in the coming weeks, and to take time to view and enjoy the work on display.
Marieke Thiescheffer
The work of Marieke consists of imaginary portraits featuring the staghorn fern; a representation of thoughts about the plant’s beauty. Sapphire-green leaves and dry, faded remains. Wind in the hair and the shade of the sun. Indian yellow and purple mixed, the palette with its many greens, a warm interplay of colors to behold.

Gert Jan Majoor
Only after his retirement was Gert Jan able to indulge in something that had been itching for some time: playing with shapes. A late bloomer, in other words. He is inspired by the formal language of greats like Gaudí, Arp, and Moore. Cor Dam (1935-2019), a renowned Delft sculptor/painter who taught at the Vrije Academie in Delft, sparked his enthusiasm for clay: ideal for his intuitive working method. Thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, his development accelerated, towards unique sculptures that can be positioned in multiple ways.
